What’s in a name?
I was thinking the other day (yes, I do think every now and then) about the different and sometimes strange names people tend to have. I wondered if someone had a driving instructor with a strange name, would you want to learn to drive from them.
How good is someone’s instruction if their name was Dent? Would they have to drive a vehicle that had a few scuffs on it? Would they care if their vehicle was looking good? How well would they teach you if their first and last name was Rick O’Shea? (Say if fast). Do you think they would teach you to weave in and out of traffic?
Would you feel safe if you were being taught how to drive on the freeway if your instructor’s last name was Speedie, Quick or Fast? What about if their last name was Slo or Snail; would you want to drive with them on the freeway? Wouldn’t everyone else pass you quickly, thus putting you at risk?
Wouldn’t it help your low speed parking skills if your driving instructor’s last name was Park or Parker? I guess that would be better than Walker. Wouldn’t you feel good about your driving if your instructors’ name was…Good?
Wouldn’t it be easier for you to become friends with your driving instructor if their last name was Budd, Pal or Friend? Could there be a language issue if their last name was French or German? I’m sure there would be little problem if there name was English.
Would you have a crush on the instructor if their last name was Hunks, Gladiator or Babe? Would they have to look like their name? That could be rather intimidating.
Would your driving instructor have to drive a blue car if their name was Blue; or green if it was Green or pink if it was Pink? If their last name was Car would they teach in a van and if their last name was Van would they teach in a car?
Maybe your instructor would protect you more in the vehicle if their name was Shields or Brake, but maybe not so much if their name was Hurt or Skidmore.
These were all real names I took out of my local phonebook. I don’t know about you, but I want to learn from the Best!
